New Proton Perdana - What Do You Expect?

Long time to wait Perdana replacement, finally it came out after some spy-shot pictures published by Paultan.org. When I saw those pictures, in my mind, it just Honda Accord. Yes I know, Proton collaborated with Honda since last year.

Reviewing some comments and responses from fellow friends, peoples in social media networks, it seems lack of  'like' to the new Perdana. Why? Of course the Malaysian expect a better one, worth and bring some value to them. From my opinion, there are Pros & Cons.

Some said, it is less initial investment and time taken in developing new product. For sure, it is not easy to develop new product, unless Proton is too excellent in managing their intellectual capacity. So, the outcome was a re-badge Accord. However, why Proton came with the Accord 8th generation, not the 9th generation?

Mitsubishi Eterna
It is awkward, because Honda already featured the 9th generation to the market while Proton crawling to introduce the 8th generation, such a dump site for the giant Japan manufacturer. Why Proton not choosing Honda Legend as replacement to Perdana?

Look, the 1st generation Perdana introduced in 1995 based on Mitsubishi Eterna which doesn't available in Malaysian market. So, it has it own value, unique segment, and sure peoples love it. We know that, Proton offered Mitsubishi badges engineered. But, Mitsubishi did not sell what Proton's offered in the market that time. After that, Inspira introduced based on Lancer. Even some disappointment form Lancer owner, it still can be consider because the re-badge was by the latest Lancer and offered with lower price.

Proton need to do something worth with the investments. Its good when we saw Satria GTi, Neo and R3 project. Preve, not too bad. Failures are normal in business, but please, learn from all those mistakes. Today's environment needs rapid innovation with good strategic decisions. Last but not least, Proton should enhance R&D to develop better products. Is Proton want to rely on other technology for the next 100 years? Utilizing own human capital and intellectual properties better than buying other's residual products.

p/s: The performance maniac could enjoy proton vtec!
