Horsepower, Torque & Style
I bet U must be even heard the Italian Moto
Guzzi artistic prowess motorcycle. Ya, Guzzi have it own class and the uniqueness
of their V-twin engine technology.
No matter how enormous discussion about the
Armageddon or the day of resurrection, Moto Guzzi works like never be bothered about
it. After defending their arts more than 90 years with various historical, Moto
Guzzi continues to look forward in motorcycle industry.
With some exotic feelings, I came to Moto
Guzzi Malaysia at Glenmarie to test one of the Guzzi’s sport tourer, Norge GT
8V. The bike named as Norge as an honor of the epic expedition as far as 4000
miles to the Arctic Circle. The journey took from Moto Guzzi factory in Mandello
del Lario to the North Cape, Norway in 1928. It took 4 weeks to complete the
journey with a new 500 GT motorcycles. After the expedition accomplished, GT
500 named as Norge, which is referring to the Norwegians.
After I turned on the engine, as expected,
vibration from twin-cylinder 8V 90 degrees is really hurts me. I am too excited
maybe, because of the dissimilar engine technology pull me out from the normal
engine configuration. Norge GT powered by 1151cc engine which have 102
horsepower with a maximum torque of 104 Nm. At my first glance, Norge appearance
with the transverse cylinder heads bulged stand out the muscular looks. Riding position is quite comfortably with the
seat width; of course it will ensure good comfort in long distance travel.
Unfortunately, I realize that the bike is too
heavy. I am struggling to pull back the bike. However, the power of the engine
is good enough to accelerate this fat elephant.
Six-speed gearbox played a good role with the
CARC drive shaft (Compact Reactive Shaft Drive). Cruising on the highway with
the final gear is a very exciting. Surprisingly, the Norge does well when I get
into the corners. Easy, stable and it does not burdened by it weights.
I do love with the bike’s performance through
the corners – light, easy to control, and stable. Guzzi’s R & D not only
focused on engine performance, but also with the chassis which provide more comfort
ride.
Brembo brakes at the front and rear with ABS
system ensure safer brakes. 6.1 gallon capacity fuel tank could make 200 miles.
Saddlebag was provided both on the right and left. Panel meter combined analogue
and digital instrumentation, then it arousing classic modern style. Norge GT
8V, exclusively combined the Guzzi’s art and performance
heritage.
