Since
its introduction, Multistrada have been one of the successful models globally.
With a variety of criticism before met the victory, Ducati always perceive in the
positive side and take further steps to improve every detail of their bikes’ construction.
Certainly,
everybody does respect Ducati as the major player in the production of two
-wheel machines. Even though Ducati was captured by German influence, they still
overwhelm their signature and tradition.
First
generation Multistrada was introduced in 2003. The name of Multistrada meant to
indicate its creation which is able to handle various structures on earth.
I
fall in love when I saw Multistrada 1200 first look in 2010. I am impressed
with the power, ergonomic, agility and the attraction of 1200cc L- twin cylinder
engine.
2013
Multistrada get improvements in terms of increased torque to the engine and the
addition of an active suspension system - Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS).
Ducati DSS responds automatically according to the structure of the road. This
technology provides more confidence, comfort-ride and stability in a variety of
conditions.
Fuel
injectors have been re-tuned and now Multistrada’s cylinder head got service from
two spark plugs to ensure smoother engine operation. Apart from the technical improvements,
Multistrada 1200S 2013 also received some cosmetic features additions include
new adjustable windshield, new rims design and LED lighting.
I
start the engine without using the key. Cool! The key is stored silently in
your jeans pocket, but please, do not left it behind or either you can’t even
start the engine after switched it off.
Once
the gear is in, clutch lever released, I found it was not that hard to handle
even it looks in abnormal size. I am so excited with it riding modes - Sport ,
Enduro , Urban and Touring. I took the opportunity to try the each riding mode.
The difference in the aspect of performance, it can be felt. Special, those
modes can be changed easily without stop the bike, just release the throttle
and brakes.
What's
so special about Ducati ? Actually, the Italian benchmark is synonymous with
the excellence in technology, design, exclusive and the uniqueness. I can see
from such a distance, many heads and eyes turning when I rode Ducati bike in
commercial areas. Of course, the sound from the Testastretta 11° engine and
exhaust attracting peoples. Same with me, always alert if heard the roaring
from Ducati.
Due
to the cloudy weather and drizzle, I need to push myself faster to pass over
the rain. Just as expected, when I squeezed the throttle, I can feel the power
and performance. The bike’s height helped me to look ahead on the traffic
conditions. Although the road is wet and quite slippery, I do not hesitate to
treat sharp corners.
The
Italian-made machine offers maximum power of 150hp. It produced from the L-twin
1198.4cc engine Desmodromic Dual Spark liquid cooled.
With
the help of new windshield, I could accelerate in high-speed without struggling
with winds. Multistrada 1200S equipped with some techno safety features such as
Ducati Traction Control ( DTC ) and ABS. These systems support the Brembo brakes
apart from the DSS active suspension system. After a few days with the bike, I like
the impressive performance besides the aesthetic value and the uniqueness.
