Kawasaki W800

At the first glance, you may not be able to guess what is the type of the bike clearly. Perhaps, you would guess it is a restored classic bike. Indeed, it is a modern classic by Kawasaki - W800.

Kawasaki produced this bike in 2011 under W series. Retro style W series first released in 1965 based on British classic BSA. These days, there is a lot of retro fans. Some of them is those who love collecting old classic motorcycles. Actually, it is not easy to do the restoration job.

The W800 was a Special Edition version which was released in 2012. The unit has a gold wheels, dual black exhaust and black painted engine. Triumph may proud of their classic style machine - Bonneville and in the meantime, Moto Guzzi with V7 Classic. They do believe the market of classic style motorcycles is always there. Moreover, the emergence of old-school market enliven the Cafe Racer's heritage.

In term of looks and style, Kawasaki W800 such an impressive work. Parallel-twin engine managed to keep the classic nature without liquid cooled system. The classic looks strengthened with chrome finished on several body-parts, fuel tank design, headlight, rear and signal lamp, and the saddle design. However, there are several modern components used such as the Tokico brake calipers at front, electric starter system and fuel injection system.

At the early ride, I was impressed with the W800 gearbox. Changing gear smooth without a hard jolt especially at the first gear. Initial acceleration is a bit slow, but gradually responsive after it moving. Along the riding, I do not need to anticipate frequently gear changing as the torque delivered sufficiently.

W800 is light and easy to handle. Rear shocks quite soft but is reasonable to provide a comfort ride. Simply, at the speed 120 km/h and above, the motorcycle swayed and felt not too stable at the behind. However, it is different when U ride with a pillion at behind where I can feel more comfortable. I had enjoying comfortable cruising at 100 km/h. Riding up hills should not be a problem, I got a smooth ride and easy handling through winding roads.

Overall, I am satisfied with the values, design, and overall performance. It is suitable for casual ride on weekend and it can be considered a for who do not want to be burdened with preserving the old bike costs.
